Bhubaneswar: There are a total of 11,374 Government quarters under the General Administration Department till 2022. From 2010 to 2022, 148 old quarters were demolished and 174 new ones were constructed, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s written reply in the Assembly today revealed. To a question raised by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the CM’s reply further stated that 410 quarters will be demolished and redeveloped in PPPmode. Similarly, 50 quarters will be demolished in Unit 6 for the construction of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research at Capital Hospital. In Unit 4, 50 quarters will be demolished and multi-story apartments will be built for MLAs, the CM stated. Similarly, 12 quarters in Unit 3 area will be demolished for the new building of the BMC.
