Srinagar : The Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) by security forces entered fourth day on Tuesday in the woods of north Kashmir district of Bandipora.
So far, three Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed and a soldier of 14 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was injured in the encounter which broke out on July 24 at Shokbaba forest Sumblar in Bandipora.
Official sources said more security forces from different areas have joined the CASO in the densely forest in Bandipora as three to four militants are reportedly trapped there. However, so far no fresh contact has been reported after Saturday encounter, they said.
The troops of 13 and 14 RR, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint CASO in Shokbaba Sumlar-Aragam in Bandipora early Saturday morning following a specific information about presence of militants. While three militants were killed, a soldier was injured in the encounter which ensued when the troops were moving deep in the woods.
