Cabinet approves India’s digital tech pacts with France, Papua New Guinea, Trinidad and Tobago

New Delhi(PIB): The MoU(memorandum of understanding)with France intends to promotecloser cooperation and exchangeof information pertaining to digitaltechnologies, and will mutuallysupport each participant’s goal topromote access to digitaltechnology in their countries,according to an official statement.The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved thecountry’s three separatememorandum of understandingswith Papua New Guinea, France,
Trinidad and Tobago in the fieldof digital technologies. of the Memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) betweenthe Ministry of Electronics andInformation Technology of the Republic of India and theMinistry of Economy, Financeand Industrial and DigitalSovereignty of the FrenchRepublic on cooperation in thefield of Digital Technologies,” thestatement said.The MoU is likely to enhance
bilateral cooperation in digitaltechnologies in the G2G(government-to-government) andB2B (business-to-business)
domains. “MoU envisagesimproved collaboration, leading toemployment opportunities in thefield of IT,” the statement said.The Ministry of Electronics andIT (Meity) has been mandated topromote international
cooperation in the emerging andfrontier areas of informationtechnology under a bilateral andregional framework of
cooperation. “The cooperationunder this MoU will start on thedate of its signature by bothParticipants and will last fiveyears,” the statement said.The cabinet approved the MoUsigned on July 28 between Meityand the Ministry of Informationand Communications Technologyof Papua New Guinea oncooperation in sharing successfuldigital solutions implemented atpopulation scale for digitaltransformation. “The MoUintends to promote closer
cooperation and exchange ofexperiences and digitaltechnologies-based solutions (viz.India Stack) in the implementationof digital transformationalinitiatives of both the countries.The MoU shall come into effectfrom the date of signature of theParties and shall remain in forcefor a period of three years,” the
statement said.The government has openedIndia stack — a set of technologytools like Aadhaar, UPI, and
Cowin — for their adoption inother countries. The cabinet hasapproved a similar agreement topromote India stack betweenMeity and the Ministry ofDigital TransformationTechnology of the Republic ofTrinidad and Tobago. The
MoU with Trinidad andTobago will also remain inforce for a period of three year.
