Bulldozers move on building of Kanpur violence mastermind’s relative

Kanpur, June 11 (UNI) Demolition of illegal portion of a building owned by Mohammad Ishtiyaq, said to be a close relative of the mastermind of violence in Becon Ganj area of Kanpur on June 3 after Friday namaz Hayat Zafar Hashmi, started on Saturday.

Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) started demolition of the illegal portion of the building owned by Ishtiyaq in Benajhabar area. KDA secretary Shatrughan Vaishya said that several notices were issued to the builder and businessman Ishtiyaq to remove the illegal construction and encroachment in the past.

He said that as the builder did not carry out any follow up action on the notice, an illegal portion of the building has been demolished. “The map of the building was passed for the residential purpose, but it was being used for commercial purposes,” he said.

None of the administration or police officials clarified whether Ishtiyaq has any connection with the violence in Becon Ganj or not. A senior police officer said that on the request of the KDA to remove encroachment one company each of PAC and Rapid Action Force (RAF) and police teams from several police stations have been deployed. Four bulldozers and several workers have been deployed to demolish the illegal structure.
