Bhubaneswar, July 6 (Dumani Mail): BJP member Nauri Nayak on Wednesday urged Odisha Assembly Speaker Bikram keshari Arukh to direct Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to make a statement on the issue of setting up of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in Western Odisha.
Raising the issue during zero hours in the Odisha Assembly Nayak alleged that although the Union government had asked the state to give a proposal for setting up a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in Western Odisha, the state government is not sending any proposal in this regard.
He said On April 20, 2022, the Union government had written to the Chief Minister to submit a proposal for setting up the bench after consulting with the Orissa High Court Chief Justice.
Already two months have passed yet the Chief Minister has not yet given any proposal, the BJP MLA said and requested the Chief Minister to consult with the Chief Justice and submit the proposal.
He urged the Speaker to direct the Chief Minister to make a statement in the Assembly in this regard.
