New Delhi : Amid the ongoing festival season, India has registered 15,823 in the last 24 hours, which is more than 1,500 than what was recorded a day earlier, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data on Wednesday.
“Due to the pandemic, 226 deaths have also been reported in the last 24 hours, whereas the recovery rate has touched 98.06 per cent, stated the Ministry.
The number of deaths also rose from 181 reported on Tuesday and is 45 more on Wednesday registering a rise of 1.33 per cent.
The Ministry said a total of 22,844 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients, since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,33,42,901.
The active caseload presently stands at 2,07,653 which is the lowest in 214 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.61 per cent of the country’s total positive cases.
“The daily positivity rate is 1.19 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for last 44 days, whereas weekly positivity rate is 1.46 per cent which also remains less than 3 per cent for the last 110 days now,” the Ministry reported.
On the vaccination front, the ministry, said, with the administration of 50,63,845 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 96.43 crore (96,43,79,212) as per provisional reports till 7 a.m. Wednesday. “This has been achieved through 94,26,400 sessions,” it said.
Meanwhile, the testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded as a total of 13,25,399 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the total cumulative tally to over 58.63 crore.
The data suggested that, more than 97.79 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the direct state procurement category.
“More than 8.43 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” the data said.
