230 Indians to return from Israel on first flight under Operation Ajay

Around 230 people will bethe first Indian nationals to flyback from Israel under’Operation Ajay,’ the Ministryof External Affairs (MEA) saidon Thursday, adding that theIndian Air Force (IAF) couldalso be roped in to bring
Indians back home from thewar-hit country.”A charter flight will reachTel Aviv today later in theevening. It is expected to get230 passengers onboard. Wehave all options, but the roleof IAF can’t be ruled out,”MEA spokesperson ArindamBagchi told reporters in aweekly briefing.On Wednesday, thegovernment announced’Operation Ajay’ to facilitatethe return of Indian citizenswho wish to come home fromIsrael, which is engaged in aconflict with Hamas, the Gazabasedterrorist group, sinceOctober 7, when Hamas
terrorists crossed over toIsrael, killing scores of citizensand taking hostages. Bagchi,meanwhile, further stated that
so far, the ministry is yet to hearabout any Indian casualtyarising out of the conflict. Healso urged 18,000 of his
compatriots currently living inIsrael to follow advisoriesissued by the Indian embassy,which functions out of Tel Aviv.
