Odisha Assembly condoles demise of ex-members, security personnel, covid warriors

Bhubaneswar : Members of the Odisha Assembly cutting across party lines today condoled the demise of former members, security personnel and corona warriors who have passed away during the intervening period of the last session and the ongoing monsoon session.

They paid their tribute to the departed leaders and prayed for the salvation of the departed souls.

Moving an obituary reference from his residence Naveen Nivas, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik through video conferencing expressed his profound grief over the death of former Ministers Bijayshree Routray, Kartik Prasad Tarai, former Deputy Chief whip Bibekananda Meher, former members— Arun Dey, Chandrama Santha, Kamalakanta Nayak, Umakanta Mishra and Bikram Kshari Barma.

Mr Patnaik also condoled the death of former Odisha Police Havildar Sunil Kumar Naik, and Anil Ekta former OAPF who laid down their lives on duty and all corona fighters who laid down their life for the service of the people fighting the corona pandemic.

The Chief Minister requested the Speaker to convey the condolence of the House to the bereaved family members.
Leader of Opposition PK Naik who is presently undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar for post covid complications also participated in the discussion from the AIIMS Guesthouse through video conferencing. He too expressed his profound grief at the passing away of former members of the House.

Congress Legislature Party leader Narasinha Mishra and CPI-M leader Laxman Munda, Speaker S N Patro joined the Chief Minister to condole the deaths.

The House observed one-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
