Khordha :- Complainant Lokanath Ram along with his wife was returning from Godipokhari to khordha town in a scooty two unknown persons riding a white colour motorcycle suddenly approach them and snatched gold chain weighing approximately 20 grams from the complaints neck.
During the search cash amounting to ₹ 5.5 lakhs was recovered from the car. During interrogation the driver Kali Prasad Roul and another occupant Ashish Das disclosed that they had committed several gold chain snatching incidents in the areas under khordha model PS, Industrial and khordha sadar police stations and the stolen gold ornaments sold to Santosh Kumar Sahu of Gurujanga, Khordha, Niranjan Sahoo and Jayadev Pal of Cuttack .The accused persons revealed that they had sold the stolen gold ornaments to the above receiver.
Based on their disclosures three other co-accused persons were apprehended during the investigation.The apprehended persons were Kapil Prasad Roul(29) Ashish Das(18) Gudul Behera (32) Santosh Kumar Sahoo(35) Niranjan Sahoo(43) and Jayadev Pal (44) and seized one maruti swift car , melted gold weighing 135 grams,cash amounting to ₹ 8,80,000/- from their possession.Revealing the past criminal records of the accused and their involvement in multiple pending cases, he added .SDPO, Khordha,Pankaj Kumar Majhi,IIC, Model PS Sanjaya Nayak,IIC ,IEPS, Khordha,Umesh Kumar Sahu and other senior police officials were present.
