Bhubaneswar, : Odisha Police on Friday registered three separate cases in connection with the violence that took place during protest of Congress party infront State Assembly
yesterday.According to Additional Commissioner Police (ACP) Narasingha Bhol, the
Capital Police has filed three separate cases – Capital PS Case No. 128 dt 28.03.25 0/5-189(2)/ 221/296/132/190 BNS/ Section 96 OUPAct, Capital PS Case No. 129, dt-28-03-25 U/S- 327 BNS and Capital PS Case No. 130 dt 28.03.25 15-189(2)/191021/ 126(2)/132/12100/324(4)/296/ 35/(2/190 BNS/Sec-96 OUPActhave been registered due to the violent protest at Lower PMG, Mahatma Gandhi Marg yesterday.Bhol said that a case has been registered as some Congress leaders and workers attempted to enter the Odisha assembly forcefully in the night of March 26. Another case with charges of rioting has been registered for pelting stones at onduty police personnel and injuring them, he informed.Similarly, a case also has been registered for trying to set the police vehicle on fire, the ACP said adding that the police have attained video footages of the incidents based on which the accused will be identified and actions will be taken
against them.It is to be noted here that Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar turned a battle ground after a clash erupted between the police and workers of Congress party, who were protesting against the suspension of 14 party MLAs from the State Assembly for repeatedly disrupting the business of the house while demanding for a House Committee to address the rising crime against women in the State.The Congress workers
clashed with police while marching towards the Assembly. Police resorted to lathicharge and water cannons to disperse the crowd while the latter threw chairs, eggs and stone at the cops. Several people including a dozen of police personnel, Congress workers and media persons were injured due to the violence yesterday. All of them were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
