Mock Exercise on Chemical Emergency Response Conducted at Nalco, Koraput

Koraput,: tackle chemical emergencies in industrial areas, a mock exercise was conducted at Nalco’s Aluminium Plant in Koraput district on Friday. The exercise was
organized by the district administration of Koraput, Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA), and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The mock exercise was attended by various officials, including the Additional District Magistrate of Koraput, Premalal Hiyaal, and the District Emergency Officer, Subrat Kumar Sahu.The exercise began with a simulated chemical leak and fire incident at the plant. The response team demonstrated various techniques, including foam gas spraying to extinguish the fire. The team also showcased rescue operations to evacuate workers trapped in the affected area. A video conference was held after the exercise, where officials discussed ways to improve emergency response mechanisms in industrial areas. The conference was attended by officials from various departments, including the Industries and Boiler Inspectorate Department, Odisha Pollution Control Board, and the
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Koraput District Council. Other officials who attended the meeting included the Sub-Collector of Koraput, the District Public Relations Officer, and officials from the Fire Services Department and the CISF.
