One of the proposals approved is to set up Model Primary Schools In All 6794 Gram Panchayats. The government will spend a total of Rs12,000 crore on these schools. By 2028 all these model Schools will be completed. These model Schools will act as feeder Schools for Smart High Schools. The cabinet has also approved a new scheme to strengthen the cold storage chain in the state. The scheme “Financial Assistance to Cold Storages” is introduced with the objective of strengthening cold storage facilities and infrastructure, to establish at least one cold storage in each of the 58 sub-divisions of the state to encourage private entrepreneurs to set up Cold storages in hitherto uncovered and economically feasible locations, to enhance income of farmers by providing better market opportunities, valueaddition and processing of agriculture, horticulture and allied sector commodities, to address post-harvest losses, and to prevent distress sale of harvested crops. for RIR Power Electronics Limited (RIR) to establish India’s first Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor manufacturing facility in Bhubaneswar, Odisha with a total investment of Rs 618.60 crore and the project will be implemented in two phases. The groundbreaking ceremony for the manufacturing facility was held on 7th September 2024 at the Electronic Manufacturing
Cluster (EMC) Park in Info Valley, Bhubaneswar. The facility will focus on SIC-based devices, catering to electric vehicles
(EV5), renewable energy, railways and defence and is expected to create 750 jobs. This will be India’s first compound
semiconductor fab, significantly enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities with high-value processes like epitaxial layer deposition and packaging. The cabinet approved the “Bikashita Gaon Bikashita Odisha” (BGBO) scheme for rural Odisha. The outlay of BGBO is Rs 5000 Crore. In 2024- 25, Rs 1000 crore has been sanctioned. healthcare infrastructure, the Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved an amendment to the Odisha Medical Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Dental Surgeon) Rules, 2022. According to an official press release, this amendment paves the way for the requisition for recruitment of more than 100 Dental Surgeons to be sent to the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC). The amendments include key changes to facilitate a smoother recruitment process. A proviso has been added to sub-rule (10) of rule 6, specifying that any matter related to direct recruitment not covered by the
rules will be guided by the Rules of Procedure laid down by the Commission. For critical unspecified matters, the Commission, in consultation with the Department, will take appropriate decisions to ensure the smooth functioning of examinations, and such decisions will be final unless overridden by future amendments or decisions. Additionally, the proviso to clause (e) of sub-rule (1) of rule 7 has been omitted. Previously, this clause required candidates to possess a valid registration certificate under the “Dentist Act, 1948” to be eligible for direct recruitment.
