Hyderabad, Apr 17 (UNI) The voter turnout of 69 per cent was recorded in the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly byelection till 1500 hours on Saturday.
No untoward incidents were reported so far and the polling is going on peacefully, police said here. The voting will continue till 7 PM as Covid-19 patients will be permitted to cast their votes between 6 PM and 7 PM.
Over 2.20 lakh voters will decide the fate of the 41 contesting candidates in the fray. Though 41 candidates contesting the byelection, the main contest is between TRS and the Congress with a resurgent BJP promising to put up a tough fight.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of TRS sitting MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah in December last year.

The counting will be taken up on May 2.
