YouTube can face loss if details of accounts not furnished to Ministry of IB

New Delhi : YouTube accounts, publishing news or current affairs can face loss of access or termination of all or part accounts if they don’t furnish details of accounts to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

This was stated by social media platform, which is basically a user-generated content platform today in a communique to it’s users.

The communique said that on January 5, 2022, YouTube is updating their Terms of Service.

Among other things, the communique said that the Google is also required to inform it’s users under Rule 5 of the Indian Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules, 2021) Rules, 2021 that if they are a publisher of news or current affairs content, they are required to furnish the details of their accounts on YouTube to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

The communique further says] “Please make sure you read these updates and remember that the Terms and Google’s Privacy Policy apply to your use of YouTube.

Violation of these agreements may result in warnings or further action including loss of access or termination of all or part of your account.”
