Srinagar : Three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed in an encounter with the security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Saturday, the police said.
On a specific information about the presence of militants in the forest area of Nagbaeran Tral, Awantipora in Pulwama, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) early Saturday morning.
An encounter ensued after militants attacked security forces while moving into the forest, a police spokesman said adding three militants were killed in the encounter.
The Kashmir Zone Police, in a tweet, informed that the slain militants belonged to proscribed outfit JeM. Searches in the forest area was still going on.
