Revision Of Electoral Rolls Begins

Puri: The preparation of new and flawless electoral rolls for the year 2024 has started on the directions of the Election Commission. Additional District Collector Pradeep Kumar Sahu informed that the amendment work, which started on October 27 this year, will continue till December 9. A meeting was held with representatives of political parties regarding the process of preparation of the new voter list at the additional collector’s office room this afternoon. Presiding over the meeting, Additional District Magistrate Mr. Sahu will make voters, especially new voters, aware of the fact that they are 18 years of age or above as on 1.1.2024 for registration of their names in the electoral rolls. He said that four times in a year i.e. January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 are the dates of the eligibility index and new voters can apply for inclusion of names in the voters’ list in form number 6. SubCollector Bhavtaran Sahu will be able to apply for registration of names in the voters’ list by downloading the Voters Helpline app from Google Play Store. You can use Form 6 A for registration of name as a NON-RESIDENT INDIAN, Form No. 6B for linking Aadhaar with voter list, Form No. 7 for deletion of name and Form No. 8 for correction of errors in voters’ list. The 5th, 11th and 25th of this month have been designated as Special Campaign Day. Sahu informed that booth level officers will be present in all the booths on this day and will assist the voters in the work of revising the voter list. At present there are 1363781 voters in 1598 booths in the district. There are 705092 male voters, 658611 female voters and 78 other voters. He urged the representatives of political parties to encourage new voters to be aware and include names. The meeting was attended among others by Deputy Collector Rakesh Panda, District Information and Public Relations Officer Santosh Kumar Sethi, representatives of various political parties and staff of the election office.
