Lucknow,: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday expressed concern over increasing reports of suicide by the youths in the state due to rising unemployment and said that serious thoughts should to the claims of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of development and ‘Shining India’. Referring to media reports claiming a spurt in cases of suicides among young people due to unemployment Mayawati while expressing concern also criticised the government for avoiding a debate in the Parliament on this issue. She tweeted, “News of farmers committing suicide due to debt are disturbing, but now suicides by unemployed youths out of compulsion has increased national concern, anxiety and resentment. After all this, how does the BJP claim of development and Shining India justified?” Mayawati termed BJP’s refusal to hold a debate on this burning issue in Parliament as arrogance on the part of the ruling party. “If BJP’s refusal to hold a debate on the burning issue of unemployment in the Parliament is not wrong and arrogant then what is it? Who wants to bear the taunts and humiliation on being unemployed. BJP people should abandon their narrow thinking mindset only then some good is possible in the country,” she said.
