Jerusalem : Spain beat Green 10-5 in the final to claim gold in the FINA World Women’s Junior Water Polo Championships held in Israel’s coastal city of Netanya.
The Spaniards went from 1-1 to 5-1 in the first quarter and scored another in the second quarter.
Spanish captain Paula Camus’s two goals helped Spain enter the final quarter 9-4 with a five-goal advantage.
Greece had no chance to pull it back and was only able to respond through Eleni Kanetidou in the final two minutes.
Camus and Ariadne Ruiz scored three goals each for Spain to reclaim the title after a 10-year wait.
Earlier on Saturday, Hungary won the bronze medal after a 12-10 victory over Italy.
Russia finished fifth after a 19-8 win against the Netherlands, while Israel came seventh after a 10-10 draw and a 4-3 victory on penalties against Serbia.
