Mumbai, July 19 (Dumanimail) The equity market remained strong for the third straight session on Tuesday, as
BSE Sensex rallied 246.47 pts at 54,767.62 following gains in Realty, Metal, Bankex and Auto stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose 62.05 pts at 16,340.55.
The sensex opened weak at 54,251.88, fell 270 pts in opening session. It was dropped nearly 289 pts at 54,232.82, days low.
Later, it was bounced back 296 pts at 54,817.52, days high, before closing at 54,767.62, up 246.47 pts from its previous close
The sensex registered days high and low at 54,817.52 and 54,232.82 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,359.50 and 16,187.05 respectively.
The sectoral indices like Realty, Metal, Bankex and Auto stocks kept the winning streak intact.
In 30 scrips, Axis Bank was a major gainer, up 2.21 pc followed by & M by 2.21 pc to Rs 1185.05, Bajaj Finserv by 1.81 pc to Rs 12,468.20 and IndusInd Bank by 1.80 pc to Rs 866.
The loser were Nestle India Ltd by 1.37 pc to Rs 18,363.90, HCL Technology by 1.23 pc to Rs 889.25, Sun Pharma by 0.83 pc to Rs 875.45 and Kotak Bank by 0.53 pc to Rs 1836.
The Mid cap rose by 0.68 pc and Small Cap by 0.88 pc.
In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
