Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday advanced 74 points to 57,972.23 in the opening session as buying was seen in Energy, FMCG, Finance and Health Care stocks.
The Nifty too rose 12.85 points to17,246.10.
The Sensex registered the days high and low at 58,097.07 and 57,721.47 points respectively.
The Nifty registered the days high and low at 17,285.95 and 17,180.95 points respectively.
The Mid Cap moved up by 0.29 per cent and Small Cap by 0.54 per cent.
In 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined.
The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 1.63 per cent to Rs 866.60, Dr Reddy’s Lab by 1.58 per cent to Rs 4818.15, Sun Pharma by 1.38 per cent to Rs 826.25, Titan by 0.83 per cent to Rs 2400 and ICICI Bank by 0.77 per cent to Rs 741.70.
The losers were Tata Steel by 1.28 per cent to Rs 1113, ITC by 0.61 per cent to Rs 218.60, Powergrid by 0.61 per cent to Rs 204.20 and HDFC Bank by 0.36 per cent to Rs 1455.60.
