Mumbai, Aug 11 (Dumanimail) The BSE Sensex on Thursday rallied 515.31 pts at 59,332.60 following gains in Bankex, IT and Finance stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too moved up 124.25 pts at 17,659.00.
The sensex opened strong at 59,320.45, up 503 pts. It was spurted 667 pts at 59,484, days high, before closing at 59,332.60, up 515.31 pts from its previous close.
The sensex registered days high and low at 59,484.99 and 59,251.14 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,719.30 and 17,631.95 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices like Bankex, IT, Consumer Durable and Finance stocks kept the intact today.
In scrips, Axis Bank was a major gainer, up 2.75 pc to Rs 759.20 followed by Bajaj finance by 2.34 pc to Rs 7315, HDFC by 2.14 pc to Rs 2499.10 and Tech Mahindra by 2.12 pc to Rs 1077.15.
The losers were ITC by 1.56 pc to Rs 306.30, NTPC by 1.35 pc to Rs 153.60, Hind Unilever by 0.91 pc to Rs 2616 and Bharti Airtel by 0.76 pc to Rs 709.55.
The Mid Cap rose by 0.83 pc and Small Cap by 0.52 pc.
In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.
The Asian Market was seen strong as Australia was up by 1.20 pc, China by 1.60 pc and Hong Kong by 2.32 pc.
