Hyderabad : South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Gajanan Mallya has stated that SCR is one of the best zones of Indian Railways in terms of effective implementation of energy conservation measures.
Mr Mallya, during a webinar held at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad on Friday as part of the Energy Conservation Week being celebrated from December 14 to 21, stated that SCR has undertaken several innovative measures such as Energy neutral stations, electrification of Railway lines on mission mode, water conservation measures, establishing water recycling plants, implementation of energy conservation in both traction and non-traction wings, adaptation of 100 per cent LED, tapping natural energy by installing solar panels in a big way, star rated Air conditioning, occupancy sensors at Railway premises, a release here said.
The General Manager also advised the officers and staff to focus on new areas and innovations to further enhance the methods and modes towards Energy conservation across the zone.
Mr Mallya stated that South Central Railway has been consistently receiving Awards for efficient implementation of energy conservation measures including Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Awards, CII awards, IGBC –Platinum, Gold and Silver ratings.
In this regard, it is worth mentioning that SCR has recently received Four National Energy conservation awards on December 141 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
Namely for Vijayawada Railway Hospital, Kacheguda Heritage Building, Electric Traction Centre, Vijayawada and Sanchalan Bhavan, Secunderabad.
Mr Mallya stated that receiving recognition at National level is a symbol of the good work being carried out on SCR. He congratulated the SCR team, especially the Electrical departments for their best efforts towards energy conservation measures.
