Chandigarh: Qualifier Mukund Sasikumar of defeated seventh seed Zsombor Piros of Hungary 6-3 7-6 (4) in one and 39 minutes in the singles semi-final of the € 32, 160 ATP Challenger Tennis in Forli (Italy),on Saturday, it was reported on Sunday.
Sasikumar, who served one ace and committed a solitary double fault, won 21 points out of 43 on his first serve and 19 points out of 33 on second serve. Piros served two aces and committed five double faults. Piros’ second serve won 21 points out of 30 on his first serve and 16 out of 30 on Sasikumar won the tie-breaker in the second set after losing breakpoint opportunities in the 11th game. In the first set Sasikumar got the crucial break in the sixth game to lead 4-2 .
By holding his serve in the 7th game Sasikumar increased the lead 5-2 and went on to win the set at 6-3.
In the second semi-final Italian Luca Nardi walked over second seed Cedrik-Marcel Stebe of Germany to set up title clash.
Arjun wins doubles final: Third seeds Arjun Kadhe of India and Marc Bortolotti (Italy) defeated Michael Geerts (Bel)gium) and Alexander Ritschard (USA) 7-6 (5) 6-2 in the doubles final.
Arjun and Bortolotti earned €1700 and 50 ATP points.
