
Punjab will henceforth observe as holiday March 23, on which day in 1931 the British hanged revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced on Tuesday. Mann made the announcement in the state Assembly. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged on March 23, 1931 in the Lahore Central Jail. The former Aam Aadmi Party MP was sworn in as Chief Minister on March 16 in Bhagat Singh’s ancestral village of Khatkar Kalan.
