PM Modi meets General Atomics CEO, discuss India’s strides in drone technology

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Vivek Lall, Chief Executive of defense and diversified technologies company General Atomics Global Corporation.

“Discussing a subject of the future, which has captured the imagination of the present,” said a tweet from Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) attaching the picture of the two holding one-o-one discussion.

They discussed India’s strides in drone technology, including the path-breaking reforms and PLI (production-linked incentives) scheme, the PMO added.

The also discussed about strengthening the defence technology sector in India.

“Mr. Lall appreciated the recent policy changes to accelerate defence and emerging technology manufacturing and augment capacity building in India,” said a statement from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Among the five top American CEOs PM Modi was scheduled to meet included Lall.

The other top corporate honchos include Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, Shantanu Narayen, President and CEO of Adobe and First Solar CEO Mark Widmar.

During his interactions with CEOs of corporate giants, PM Modi highlighted the economic opportunities India offers.

The Prime Minister is in the US at the invitation of the US President Joe Biden. He reached Washington on Wednesday.
