New Delhi : More than 1.82 crore (1,82,86,208) Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday.
So far, the Centre has provided 27.28 crore (27,28,31,900) doses to the states. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 25,45,45,692 doses, as per data available this morning.
‘As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In addition, the Govt. of India has also been facilitating direct procurement of vaccines by the States/UTs. Vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy of the Government of India for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and COVID-appropriate behaviour,’ the Ministry said.
Meanwhile, the country recorded 62,224 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 2,96,33,105, as per the Ministry’s data.
On the vaccination front, a total of 26,19,72,014 doses have been administered since January 16 this year, of which 28,00,458 were administered in the past 24 hours.
