New Delhi : The Delhi Police on Sunday arrested India’s two-time Olympic medallist, wrestler Sushil Kumar, who was absconding accused in the murder case involving a 23-year-old wrestler following a brawl at the Chhatrasal Stadium here.
The 38-year-old wrestler and his associate Ajay (48), who is a co-accused in the case, were arrested from Mundka here, a senior officer of the Special Cell of Delhi Police said.
The case of brawl between wrestlers came up on the night of May 4 at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. Some wrestlers were greviously injured in this brawl and were admitted to a hospital.
One of them died during treatment. The deceased was identified as Sagar Rana.
The Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs one lakh for information leading to the arrest of Sushil Kumar, who had since been absconding, while another reward of Rs 50 thousand for his associate Ajay’s arrest.
