Odisha reports 173 new covid 19 cases in past 24 hours, Tally surges to 10, 51,414

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid load in Odisha dropped to 173 in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,51,414.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 173 new infections reported from 20 districts in the state, 102 were from the quarantine centres and 71 as local contact cases.

The other ten districts however reported no new cases in the past 24 hours. Khordha district alone recorded 86 cases, about 46.7 per cent of the total new cases followed by Mayurbhaqnj (19).

The other 28 districts, however, recorded single-digit covid cases during the period.

Official sources said only two covid deaths were reported during the health audit pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8433.

The active cases further declined to 2001 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 900 cases, about 45 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

As many as 19 districts have active cases less than one hundred while ten districts have singledigit active cases.

The daily test positivity rate of the state stood at 0.30 per cent. Khordha district, however, recorded a 2.2 per cent test positivity rate and the other 29 districts have a test positivity rate of less than one per cent of which 13 districts have zero test positivity rate.

The total recoveries in the state further surged to 10,40,927 with the recovery of 307 covid patients on Friday.
