Night flight Op begins tonight from Jammu Airport

Jammu : The much-awaited demand of people is going to be fulfilled with night flight operation commencing tonight from Jammu Civil Airport.

An official of Airport Authority of India (AAI) told UNI that the trial run of night flight was successfully conducted on Thursday.

‘The flight operation will be commencing tonight,’ said the official.

He said that initially, GoAir has agreed to operate night flights from Jammu to Delhi and the last flight will depart from Jammu Airport now at 2000 hours.

Earlier the last flight used to depart at 1545 hours.

‘As per schedule, on three days, the flights will arrive from Srinagar and leave at 1955 hours from Jammu Airport and land at 2140 hours at Delhi,’ he revealed, adding that on other three days, direct Jammu-Delhi flight will be operating.

Pertinent to mention that night flights operation from Jammu to prominent destinations of the country was one of the major demands of the people.

On July 18, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh also informed that the much awaited night flight from Jammu is likely to operate from July 23.

‘After our constant persuasion for the last 5 years, it has been decided to operate a late evening Air Flight between #JAMMU and #DELHI, most likely from Friday, 23rd July,’ he tweeted. #GoAir has agreed for it, he wrote.

Dr Singh also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tweeted, “Thanks PM Sh @narendramodi ji, you have always been generous to #JammuAndKashmir.”

Jammu Divisional Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer on July 10 reviewed night landing of flights at Jammu Airport, expansion of airstrip, commissioning of parking area, expansion and other works at Civil Airport Jammu.

Dr Langer directed the District Administration to start the process for acquisition of 1044 Kanal land for the construction of New Terminal at Beli-charana.

The Divisional Commissioner also directed the concerned officers to kick start the process for giving the possession of remaining 17 Kanal land out of 27 Kanal land adjacent to CAT-1 area.

The night landing facility is the runway approach lighting system, which includes a series of light bars with strobe lights installed at the end of the runway.
