Chennai : Even as people in some areas of this teeming megapolis are still reeling under water logging due to recent rains, a new Low Pressure area is likely to form over the bay in the next 24 hours, promising heavy to very heavy
showers for the city, suburbs and adjoining districts on November 26 and 27.
Met office sources today said yesterday’s cyclonic circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood now lay centred over central parts of South Bay of Bengal and extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
Under its influence, a Low Pressure area is likely to form over southwest Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards towards Sri Lanka and South Tamil Nadu coast.
Under its influence, thunderstorm with heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and delta districts of Tamil Nadu.
Thunderstorm with moderate rain is likely to occur at many places over rest south Tamiln Nadu, besides thunderstorm with light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over rest North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area tomorrow.
On Thursday, thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Ranipet districts of Tamil Nadu.
Thunderstorm with heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chennai, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Ramanathapuram districts, while thunderstorm with moderate rain is likely to occur at many places over coastal
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Met office said on November 26 and 27, thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places is likely to occur over Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts of Tamil Nadu.
Thunderstorm with heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai and Cauvery delta districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal area.
Thunderstorm with moderate rain is likely to occur at many places over rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
As per the heavy rainfall warning, the met office said heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Ranipet districts of Tamil Nadu, while heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chennai, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari and Ramanathapuram districts on November 25.
For the subsequent two days, heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places is likely to occur over Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ramanathapuram, Pudukottai and delta districts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal area.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu for the next four days till November 27.
