Minor Fire in MKCG MCH, No Casualties Reported

Berhampur: A minor fire broke out at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here on Friday. The blaze was spotted on the fifth floor of MKCG MCH complex, reports stated. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the blaze. No casualties or injury has been reported as a result of the mishap. The patients were shifted downstairs soon after they spotted smoke billowing out of the fifth floor where the plastic surgery ward is located. “The fire has been extinguished. The situation is under control,” a firefighter said. The reason behind the outbreak of fire was yet to be
ascertained. A probe has started admitted here. They were said to have been taken out safely. However, nothing is known about how the fire started and the damage caused due to it. According to the preliminary investigation,
the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. The official said, 2 units of Berhampur fire department, one
unit of fire office at MKCG are engaged in fire fighting. About 25 personnel were engaged in extinguishing the fire and it took them about 10 minutes. The fire spread to the fifth floor due to a short circuit in the ceiling of OT1. However, it is not known exactly how and where the short circuit occurred. to ascertain the cause behind the
fire. The building houses the dialysis ward while the plastic surgery patients stay here.
