Kozhikode : Heavy to very heavy rains along with gusty winds with speed ranging from 45 to 70 kmph is forecasted in Kerala by the Meteorological Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, during the next three days.
A Met bulletin said, there is a likely formation of a cyclonic storm over East central Arabian sea around May 16.
A Low Pressure Area is very likely to form over the Southeast Arabian Sea tomorrow morning. It is very likely to concentrate into a Depression over Lakshadweep area and adjoining Southeast & East Central Arabian Sea by May 15.
It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm over East Central Arabian Sea around May 16 and continue to move north-northwestwards for some more time with further intensification.
Squally wind speed reaching 45 kmph gusting to 65 kmph along and off Kerala coast is forecasted on Friday.
Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph is likely along and off Kerala Coast on May 15 and Gale wind speed 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 Kmph likely along and off Kerala coast on May 16.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea during the above mentioned period. Those who are at sea are advised to return to coast by night of May 15, the bulletin said.
Heavy to Very Heavy rains are forecasted on May 14 and 15 in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam Idukki and Thrissur districts.
Heavy to Very Heavy rains are also forecasted in Kannur, Kasaragod and Lakshadweep on May 16.
The rain is likely to be extremely heavy in Lakshadweep on May 14 and 15, the bulletin added.
