Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday expressed shock and sadness at the death of her party (TMC) candidate for Khardah assembly seat Kajal Sinha from Covid-19.
“Very, very sad. Shocked. Kajal Sinha, our candidate from Khardaha, succumbed to Covid,” Ms Banerjee, who is also the TMC chairperson, tweeted.
“He dedicated his life to serving people & just fought a tireless campaign. He was a long-serving committed member of AITC,” added Ms Banerjee.
“We will miss him. My condolences to his family & his admirers,” said Ms Banerjee.
Sahfier Congress candidate Rezaul Haque from Shamsherjung and RSP candidate from Jangipara (both Murshidabad) Pradip Das have also died from Covid-19.
The polling for Samsherjung and Jangipara will be held on May 16.
The 59-year-old Sinha was on the ventilation at the Beliaghata ID hospital for the past three days.
He was admitted on April 21.
