Kolkata police bust a gang engaged in making fake Aadhaar and Voters’cards for Bangladeshi infiltrators

Kolkata : The city police have busted an underground gang, engaged in producing fake Aadhaar and Voters’ cards for Bangladeshi infiltrators, barely three days after 17 Bangladeshi infiltrators were arrested from a den in south Kolkata.

Policemen from Anandapur station got a lead from the arrested foreigners and raided three places of Howrah and Sinthi in north Kolkata and arrested three members of the gang on Wednesday.

Police also seized many fake Aadhaar and Voters’ cards, biometric machine and other gadgets used for producing such fake identity cards for the illegal infiltrators.

The trio have a link with prime accused Mafizul Rahman, who was taken by the UP police in Lucknow on transit remand.

The Anandapur police early this week arrested 17 Bangladeshi infiltrators from Gulsan colony in the fringe area near Dhapa following input after 22 such illegal foreigners were arrested last week from the same locality.

Police said the gang was engaged to traffick the illegal settlers from Bangladesh to the Middle East and European countries with fake passports, voters’ cards and Aadhaar at a price ranging between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh per head.
