J&K’s Shaurya Band joins Northern Command’s Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations

Jammu : The Shaurya Band of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday joined Northern Command in a solemn ceremony to sound the bugle of celebrations of 22 years of victory of Kargil War at Udhampur.

The band presented a musical evening full of patriotism and fervour of Nationalism to honour the heroes of Kargil War.

Lieutenant General Yogesh Kumar Joshi, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern Command, the veterans of Army, the other senior officers from Headquarters Northern Command and families attended the musical evening organised under strict COVID protocols.

“Shaurya Band” was formed as a result of an extensive Music Talent Hunt concert Shaurya, organised in December-January 2021 in Jammu and Kashmir by the Army to motivate and channelise the youth towards creative and positive ventures.

During this talent hunt, nine boys and one girl were selected to form the Shaurya Band, a defence spokesman said here.

Their presentation at Udhampur was their debut performance through which they mesmerized the audience.

The event was also marked by the release of video of Kargil song, sung by Girik Aman, a famous Punjabi singer.

This song has been released to commemorate the victory during “Operation VIJAY” and reflects the might and the commitment of every soldier of Indian Armed Forces towards the cause of National Security.

The event he said that was dedicated to the memories of action during Kargil war and the name of the band itself is an ode to the gallant warriors who stood against all odds to safeguard our frontiers even to the peril of their lives.

The Army Commander Lt Gen Joshi, interacted with the band members and brought forth the importance of pious Kargil Vijay Diwas.

He himself was testimony to the various gallant actions by Indian Army during Operation Vijay.

India and Indian Army are the mirrors through which the capability and spirit of the youth are being experienced by the entire world. Shaurya Band is a symbol of the spirit.

He lauded the talented young band members who are soon going to become the torch bearers for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir in the field of music.
