It’s raining medals for India at the Tokyo Paralympics

Tokyo : The Indian para athletes had a wonderful day on Monday at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 with a rich haul of gold, silver and bronze medals.

19-year-old Avani Lekhara claimed India’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 with a world record-equaling score of 249.6 after she qualified for the final in the seventh position.

She was followed by Yogesh Kathuniya who won a silver in the Men’s Discus Throw – F56 with his season-best throw of 44.38.

India finished the day with two more medals in the Javelin throw event with two-time Olympic gold medallist Devendra Jhajharia winning silver with a personal best throw of 64.35 while Sundar Singh Gurjar won the bronze with a throw of 64.01.
