New Delhi: The year 2021 witnessed a 300 per cent increase in households streaming online LiveTV and Video on demand through PatchWall, the user interface of MI TVs, a report released by Xiaomi suggests.
According to the report named ‘PatchWall Replay Report 2021’, the traffic generated by PatchWall for the India vs Pakistan cricket match and the Tokyo Olympics Javelin throw final was enough to fill up 48 Eden Gardens.
The user interface saw a 117 per cent increase in overall sports content interactions last year.
The report said more people watched 4K content than ever before -around 13.8 million clicks- while Dolby Vision became mainstream with12.1 million clicks.
It also said that Hindi-speaking households watched more South Indian cinema.
Malayalam cinemas topped the chart with Telugu cinema in the second position, followed by Tamil, Kannada and Marathi.
It further said over 200,000 people used universal search daily to discover films and shows from different platforms.
The television show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” was the most searched title followed by “Anupama” again a television show; film “Mimi” that dealt with the issue of a surrogate motherhood held the third position.
“Shershaah” a film made on Kargil hero Captain Vikram Batra was fourth. The keyword “8K content” was fifth on the list indicating how curious the public is for 8K content.
The report also said there was a 52 per cent rise in the kid’s mode sessions.
It said last year people consumed around 2.3 billion minutes of music through PatchWall.
The most popular artists were Diljit Dosanjh, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Neha Kakkar and Jubin Nautiyal.
“Bachpan ka Pyaar”, “Param Sundari”, “Raatan Lambiyan”, “Seeti Maar” and “Vaathi Coming” were the popular music videos last year.
PatchWall Binge Index included “Bellbottom”, “Wrath Of Man”, “Black Widow”, “Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai” among the top movies while “The Family Man”, “Gullak”, “November Story” were among the top shows last year.
