‘India proud of their accomplishments’, PM, EAM greet Indian diaspora on Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday extended greetings to the vast Indian diaspora on Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, and said that India is proud of their accomplishments.
In a tweet, PM Modi said the Indian diaspora has distinguished itself all over the world andhas excelled in different spheres, while also remaining connected to their roots.
“Greetings to everyone, especially the Indian diaspora on Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas. Our diaspora has distinguished itself all over the world and has excelled in different spheres. At the same time, they have remained connected to their roots. We are proud of their accomplishments,” he said.
EAM Jaishankar said in a tweet that the achievements of the Indian diaspora are a source of pride for the country.
“Greetings to the Indian Diaspora on Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas. Your achievements are a source of pride for us. And our emotional bond grows from strength to strength.”
MoS External Affairs V Muralee dharan in a tweet urged the diaspora to connect more to their motherland in all possible ways to give shape to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
“Convey my greetings to Indian Diaspora across the world on #PravasiBharatiyaDiwas
“Appreciate their role and contribution in Nation’s development
“Call upon them to connect more to their motherland in all possible ways to give shape to the vision of #atmanirbharbharat,” he posted.
The Indian diaspora numbers approximately 18 million across the world, and they are top contributors to the home economy measured in terms of global remittances. Indians contribute13% of global remittances.
The United Arab Emirates hosts 3.5 million Indian diaspora, the United States of America (USA)is home to 2.7 million Indian diaspora, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is home to 2.5 million Indian diaspora.
According to a World Bank report, India’s remittances in 2020 reached over $83 billion.
