New Delhi : India recorded 38,164 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours pushing the case tally to 3,11,44,229, while the death toll mounted to 4,14,108 with 499 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.
According to the Ministry, the active cases declined by 995 to stand at 4,21,665. It is now 1.35 per cent of the total caseload.
The past 24 hours saw 38,660 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,03,08,456, which is 97.32 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.33 percent.
The daily positivity has remained less than 3 per cent for the last 28 days. It was 2.61 per cent for the past one day.
Of the fresh fatalities, maximum 180 were reported from Maharashtra, followed by 81 in Kerala, 66 in Odisha, 36 in Karnataka and 29 in Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 44,54,22,256 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 14,63,593 were tested on Sunday.
Till now, 40,64,81,493 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 13,63,123 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
