Hamirpur (HP) : A sum of 118 crore rupees will be spent in the Hamirpur district for the construction of twelve drinking water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan mission of the state government, officials said here on Wednesday.
Information to this effect was given by the Deputy Commissioner, Debasweta Banik while chairing a meeting of the Jal Jeevan mission here last evening.
She said that the meeting approved the shelves of these 12 drinking water schemes for the financial year 2021-22. Now, these will be sent to the state-level committee for FINAL approval.
The Deputy Commissioner said that till March 31, 2021, out of the total 1.12 lakh houses in the district, taps have been installed in 93,348 houses, while a target has been set to install taps in 6,439 houses in this financial year.
She said that under the Jal Jeevan mission a sum of Rs 232 crores had been sanctioned for 51 drinking water schemes of the district out which the works of 30 schemes would be completed later this year and they would be made functional.
Debashweta Banik said that a permanent solution to the drinking water problem in Hamirpur district would be ensured once the shelves of 12 other schemes were also approved.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also inquired about the present status of the drinking water supply in the district from the officials of the Jal Shakti Department. She directed to maintain a smooth drinking water supply in all the areas of the district as well as to take special care of the quality of water.
The Deputy Commissioner said that cleaning of drinking water sources and storage tanks and testing of water should be done on a regular basis.
In the meeting, Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Deepak Garg presented detailed reports regarding Jal Jeevan Mission and also informed about other issues related to drinking water supply.
Additional District Magistrate Jitendra Sanjata, DRDA Project Officer KDS Kanwar and other officers also gave important suggestions.
