Kolkata: With the Supreme Court refusing to entertain the Special Leave Petition filed by the Mamata Banerjee Government against BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, the latter on Monday said, “Greatest strength of judiciary is the faith of people in it. “
Taking to twitter, Adhikari said, ” Greatest strength of judiciary is the faith of people in it. “
” As the Hon’ble Supreme Court refuses to entertain the Special Leave Petition filed by@Mamata Official Govt against me, would like to remind her; ‘However high & mighty you may
be, the law treats you equally as others’, ” Adhikari stated.
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to interfere with the order of a Division Bench of the
Calcutta High Court refusing to entertain a petition against a single judge decision staying criminal proceedings initiated against BJP MLA and Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Suvendu
Adhikari.
“We will not entertain this plea for the simple reason that the order of the single judge was
challenged under Article 136 before us. We have dealt with the challenge on merits,” a bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said.
