Bhubaneswar, : The Odisha government has invited applications for appointment of
vice-chancellors to 13 public universities in the state.” Applications are invited from
eligible applicants below 66 years as of 01.12.2025 (born on or after 02.12.1959),” the advertisement issued by the Higher Education department on June 3 said. It further stated that the applicant should be a distinguished academician of proven academic and
administrative excellence and a well-rounded personality with a minimum of 10 years of
experience as professor in a university system or 10 years of experience in an equivalent
position in reputed research or academic organisation.The applications have been invited for the VC posts in Utkal University, Ravenshaw University, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo University, Gangadhar Meher University, Fakir Mohan University, Khallikote Unitary University, ShriJagannath Sanskrit Vishva vidyalaya, Rama Devi Women’s University, Rajendra University, Dharanidhar University, Vikram Dev
University, Madhusudan Law University, and Maa Manikeshwari University. The
tenure of the vice-chancellor will be four years from the date he/ she assumes office or till he/she attains 70 years of age. ” The post carries a fixed pay of Rs 2.10 lakh
with special allowance of Rs. 11,250/month and other usual allowances such as Dearness
Allowance.”Applications must be submitted physically in the prescribed format (and digitally in HIMS website) available for download at the department’s website www.dhe.odisha.gov.in and the websites of the universities.Applicants are also required to fill out the required application digitally in the HIMS portal available at hims.odisha.
gov.in /Application-for-post-ofVC. The completed physical application form must be scanned and sent via e-mall in PDF format only to hedsec.od @nic.in, with the subject line: ‘ Application for the post of Vice-Chancellor of Public Universities”. Shortlisted
candidates will be called for an interview before a three-member selection committee.
The venue and schedule will be communicated in due course. According to the provision of the Odisha University (Amendment) Act, 2024, a three-member committee will be formed for the selection of the VCs. Only distinguished educationists from the field of higher education will be part of this committee. The age limit for VCs has been increased from 67 to 70 years.
