Shimla : The Films of International Director of Morocco, USA, Iran Germany, and Korea would be screened in the Film Festival of Shimla at the historic Gaiety Theater here from November 26 to 28 November.
The Festival Director Pushpa Raj Thakur, in a statement, said that Korean director Matthew Koshmari’s documentary film ‘Father of My Land’ to be screened, during Festival and film’s director would also interact with the audience at the Gaiety Theatre.
The film is about Korean farmers fighting for their rights on the controversial island by the Japanese government.
Iranian Director Pemen Mahmood Shah would screen short film ‘Aparat’. Its a 17-minute short movie which shows struggle story of six children in a village of Iran.
German director Ronald will speak to the audience on the international nature of films and the trend of films in Germany and screen his feature film “Die Grange”.
During the festival, Vouchan would screen would Moroccan documentary ‘Amgahar’, in addition, Indian-origin filmmaker working in the US, Aryaman Prasad, would screen the short film ‘Och Neech’ and present a talk about the nuances of the film in context of cinema in the US over the decades.
Films from 16 countries shortlisted in the seventh Shimla Int’l Film Festival.
Total 23 filmmakers from across the country would be present at the film festival during their own screening of their film and would interact with the audience on international, national and regional cinema.
Films of Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya, Telugu, Malayalam, Himachali, Hindi and English films would also be screened in this film festival.
The biggest attraction in Indian films will be the recently released Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Thalaivi’. The famous director of Tamil film industry Vijay has directed this film.
Vijay, himself would present during the screening and attend the discussion on his film.
It is worth noting that six editions of the International Film Festival have been successfully organised in the past, in which Deepti Naval, Sanjay Mishra and big actors have participated in the past.
The International Film Festival of Shimla is organised by the Himalayan Velocity Society under the aegis of the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Bhasha Kala Sanskriti.
