E-auction of PM’s gifts to end today

New Delhi : The e-auction of gifts and mementos received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will end on Thursday.

The online auction of mementos which started on September 17 ie the PM’s birthday, include sports gear and equipment gifted to the PM by winners of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Other artefacts include replicas of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Chardham, Rudraksh Convention Centre, models, sculptures, paintings, among others.

As per the PM Mementos website (https://pmmementos.gov.in) till 1400 hours, the javelin which was used by Neeraj Chopra at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to win the Gold medal, has received four bids so far. The base price of the javelin autographed by Chopra was Rs 1,00,00,000 and the highest bid received so far is Rs 1,00,80,000.

The javelin used by Sumit Antil at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games to win the Gold medal whose base price was Rs 1,00,00,000, has received three bids so far with the highest at Rs 1,00,25,000, the website showed.

The badminton racquet and a bag autographed by Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games badminton Bronze medallist has received only one bid at Rs 80,00,100. The base price was Rs 80,00,000.

According to the website, a portrait of PM Modi with his mother applying tilak on his forehead whose base price was Rs 50,000, received one bid with Rs 51,000.

A wooden replica of Ram Mandir placed inside a glass box has received 24 bids so far with the highest at Rs 51,00,000. The base price was Rs 2,50,000, it showed.

The Union Ministry of Culture had said that the proceeds from the e-auction shall go to the ‘Namami Gange Mission’ aimed at conserving and rejuvenating river Ganga

and its tributaries.
