President to Visit Paradip for “Boita Bandana” Fest

Paradip: Droupadi Murmu, President of India will visit Paradip in Odisha of Jagatsinghpur district to participate in the famous “Boita Bandana’ festival as the chief guest on 27th November of this month. According to Rashtrapati Bhawan release, the president will participate in the celebration of the “Boita Bandana” festival as the chief guest. She will be present at the function from from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) is organising this festival to remembering the ancient glory of Odisha maritime trade. Boita Bandana festival is observed on the day of Kartika Purnima. This day also marks the end of Kartik rituals (Brata) and the five days Panchuka. It is noted that the festival has been started since the year from 1975 November by the efforts of the then Paradip Port Trust Chairman Premananda Tripathy. At that time, Odisha’s former Chief Minister Nandini Satapathy joined as the chief guest and inaugurated the festival and later it was being a tradition. However, due to various busy schedules, the present Chief Minister was unable to attend the program for several years, so the port chairmans were attended this program as chief guest. However, since His Excellency, the President is participating in the current Boita Bandana ceremony at Paradip, it has created a new tradition in the history of the port and enthusiasm has been shown among the inmates of the port and public.
