Disaster Management Capacity to be Strengthened Further

o n mo v e f o r f u rt h e r strengthening of State’s d is a st e r ma n a g eme n t capacity with modern equipments and training to the front line units. This was d e c i d e d i n t h e St a t e Ex e c u ti v e Committ e e meeting held on digital mode under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra from Lokseba Bhawan today whe r e in Deve lopment Commission and Special Relief Commission (SRC) Pr a d e e p Kuma r J e n a outlined the issues for discussion. Considering the changing climatic scenario, the committee decided to further strengthen the d is a st e r ma n a g eme n t capacity of the State with latest modern equipments and intensive training to the front line organizations like ODRAF and Fire Service Units. The Chief Secretary directed Housing and Urban Deve lopment dept to remove the encroachments on drains and keep those properly widened and linked for smooth passage of rain/storm water. He also directed to enhance the inhouse capacity for instant urban flood management.
