Delhi’s air quality sees slight improvement

New Delhi : Delhi’s air quality has improved to ‘very poor’ from ‘severe’ category, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

The IMD added the air quality is likely to remain in very poor category on Sunday.

According to the weather department, the overall air quality (AQI) was recorded at 343.

“The air quality is likely to deteriorate but remain in very poor category in the next two days. PM2.5 to be the predominant pollutant,” said the IMD.

The crop residue burning fire points were observed in Punjab (3742), Haryana (210) and UP (95) on Saturday, it added.

On Sunday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10.1 degree Celsius, three notches below normal. The maximum temperature is likely to settle at 26 degree Celsius today.

As per the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the AQI was clocked at 342.

The air quality in Delhi is likely to improve further in the next two days, it said.
