New Delhi, Schools, collegesand educational institutes in the Indiancapital will be be closed from Wednesday asthe Delhi government imposed a “Yellowalert” restrictions following a surge in dailycases of Covid-19.
The city recorded as many as 331 new caseson Monday, pushing the positivity rate above0.5 per cent, prompting the Delhigovernment to issue the Yellow Alert, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced here onTuesday.
The decision came after a high-level review meeting between Kejriwal and officials of the Delhigovernment.
The Chief Minister said that virus cases were rising fast in Delhi but there was no need to panicas most people had mild symptoms.
The government later issued a list of restrictions.
According to the order, schools, colleges and all academic institutions will be closed. Shops ofnon-essential items will also be shut down.
Also, multiplexes, cinema halls, spa, gyms, banquet halls, auditoriums and sports complexeswould be shut with immediate effect. Malls would be permitted to operate in an odd-evenmanner.
While hotels can operate, conference and banquet halls inside their premises would be closed.
The order stated that offices would function with maximum 50 per cent capacity. Delhi Metro,restaurants and bars would operate with 50 per cent capacity.
Meanwhile, night curfew imposed in the city since Sunday evening was further extended, withthetimings changed to from 10 pm to 5 am.
