New Delhi : Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday said that the decisions under anti-defection law should be taken in a time-bound manner.
Mr Birla also said that he will urge the Government to bring in a legislation to amend the provisions of the law so that decisions are made within specified time.
Briefing the media ahead of the Monsoon session, the Speaker said an all-party meeting has been convened on July 18 and hoped that all political parties will cooperate in smooth running of the session.
Speaking on the Covid safety norms, he said that RT-PCR test facility has been provided in Parliament premises and that all Members, Secretarial staffs who have taken both doses of vaccine, need not go to for the said test.
“So far, 311 members have taken both the doses, while some have been administered one shot only so far. Twenty-three members have not been vaccinated because of Corona virus infection or some other health reasons’, Mr Birla informed.
The Lok Sabha Speaker also said that there would be 19 sittings in this Monsoon session and sought the cooperation of all political parties in smooth functioning of the House.
He also informed that despite Covid-19 pandemic, the Members participated in the proceedings and the productivity was highest (167 per cent) in the last Budget session.
