Islamabad : At least two people were killed and 15 others injured when a powerful explosion ripped through a residential area of Lahore city on Wednesday.
Of the injured was police officer, two children and a woman, who were shifted to a nearby hospital. Local media reports said many of the wounded are said to in criticial condition.
According to media reports, the blast was so powerful that it was heard from a far distance, triggering panic among the residents.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has ordered an investigation into the incident and sought a report from the IG police.
In a tweet, Mr Buzdar said the provincial government stands with the families of those killed and injured in the Johar Town blast. “Those responsible for the blast should be brought under the law,” he averred.
